La Ferté-Alais is a commune in Essonne with 2,703 registered voters, the 82nd largest of the département's 194 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 56.7% of them voted, more than the 53.2% across Essonne, and the list led by Pascal Hilf won 22 of the council's 27 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 25.7%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.1%, France Unbowed 22.1%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 4 points worse here than across France.
