Arpajon is a commune in Essonne with 6,171 registered voters, the 39th largest of the département's 194 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 53.5% of them voted, close to the 53.2% across Essonne, and the list led by Isabelle Perdereau won 26 of the council's 33 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 27.3%, France Unbowed 25.9%, National Rally 19.8%. France Unbowed did 4 points better here than across France.
