Mâlain is a commune in Côte-d'Or with 686 registered voters, the 90th largest of the département's 697 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 74.1% of them voted, more than the 57.4% across Côte-d'Or, and MÂLAIN ET VOUS won 13 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 28.9%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 23.7%, National Rally 19.5%. France Unbowed did 7 points better here than across France.
