Bonifacio is a commune in Corse-du-Sud with 2,942 registered voters, the 7th largest of the département's 124 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 71.2% of them voted, close to the 69.4% across Corse-du-Sud, and BONIFACIO 21 won 23 of the council's 23 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 30.1%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 22.4%, Reconquête 12.8%. France Unbowed did 10 points worse here than across France.
