Soyaux is a commune in Charente with 6,207 registered voters, the 3rd largest of the département's 359 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 49.8% of them voted, fewer than the 57.7% across Charente, and the list led by François Nebout won 26 of the council's 33 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 29.7%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 27%, National Rally 20%. France Unbowed did 8 points better here than across France.
