Marennes-Hiers-Brouage is a commune in Charente-Maritime with 5,317 registered voters, the 13th largest of the département's 462 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 61.4% of them voted, more than the 58.7% across Charente-Maritime, and Nouvelle Equipe, Nouveau Cap avec Marianne Luqué won 27 of the council's 33 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 29.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 23.8%, France Unbowed 18.6%. National Rally did 6 points better here than across France.
