Vire Normandie is a commune in Calvados with 12,366 registered voters, the 4th largest of the département's 526 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 64.2% of them voted, more than the 58.2% across Calvados, and Vire Normandie, votre Territoire, votre Avenir ! won 40 of the council's 47 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 34.9%, National Rally 25.3%, France Unbowed 14.9%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 7 points better here than across France.
