Mertzwiller is a commune in Bas-Rhin with 2,735 registered voters, the 57th largest of the département's 513 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 60.3% of them voted, more than the 55.8% across Bas-Rhin, and GENERATIONS MERTZWILLER won 19 of the council's 23 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 38.8%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 27.2%, France Unbowed 11.6%. National Rally did 15 points better here than across France.
