Cailhavel is a commune in Aude with 113 registered voters, the 284th largest of the département's 433 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 68.1% of them voted, more than the 64.6% across Aude, and CAILHAVEL NOTRE AVENIR EN COMMUN won 11 of the council's 11 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 20.9%, Reconquête 17.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 16.5%. Others did 12 points better here than across France.
