Mirepoix is a commune in Ariège with 2,666 registered voters, the 8th largest of the département's 325 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 67.6% of them voted, more than the 64% across Ariège, and the list led by Valérie Dillon won 18 of the council's 23 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 25.4%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 22%, National Rally 21.3%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 6 points worse here than across France.
