Coutens is a commune in Ariège with 152 registered voters, the 176th largest of the département's 325 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 59.2% of them voted, fewer than the 64% across Ariège, and ENSEMBLE TRACONS LE CHEMIN won 11 of the council's 11 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 30.1%, France Unbowed 25.2%, National Rally 24.3%. Others did 10 points better here than across France.
