Soneja is a municipality in the province of Castellón/Castelló with 1,520 inhabitants, the 37th largest of its 135 municipalities. Its council has 9 seats, and 5 make a majority to choose the mayor.
In May 2023 PSOE came first with 67.2% of the vote and 6 seats, an absolute majority; PP was second with 3. 72.3% of the 1,200 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
