Diesen is a commune in Moselle with 803 registered voters, the 185th largest of the département's 724 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 68.6% of them voted, more than the 53.8% across Moselle, and the list led by Gabriel Walkowiak won 12 of the council's 15 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 37.4%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 18.4%, France Unbowed 14.4%. National Rally did 14 points better here than across France.
