Retiers is a commune in Ille-et-Vilaine with 3,356 registered voters, the 55th largest of the département's 331 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 49.4% of them voted, fewer than the 59.3% across Ille-et-Vilaine, and RETIERS, VIVRE ET AGIR ENSEMBLE! won 27 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 38.6%, National Rally 23.1%, France Unbowed 16.8%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 11 points better here than across France.
