Metzeral is a commune in Haut-Rhin with 942 registered voters, the 131st largest of the département's 365 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 49.5% of them voted, fewer than the 51.8% across Haut-Rhin, and MIEUX VIVRE ENSEMBLE won 15 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 35.3%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 27.1%, France Unbowed 11.1%. National Rally did 12 points better here than across France.
