Saint-Donat-sur-l'Herbasse is a commune in Drôme with 3,250 registered voters, the 24th largest of the département's 362 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 58.8% of them voted, close to the 57.8% across Drôme, and ENSEMBLE, VIVONS SAINT-DONAT won 21 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 26%, National Rally 25%, France Unbowed 18%. France Unbowed did 4 points worse here than across France.
