Villajoyosa/la Vila Joiosa is a municipality in the province of Alicante/Alacant with 34,828 inhabitants, the 11th largest of its 141 municipalities. Its council has 21 seats, and 11 make a majority to choose the mayor.
In May 2023 PP came first with 38.8% of the vote and 10 seats; PSOE was second with 6. 61.4% of the 24,034 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
